About Us

I moved to Los Angeles in 1965 from South Dakota. I met Rosie on a blind date arranged by one of her co-workers to escort her to the company Christmas Party in December of 1966. We married in May of 1967. We have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

We started tent camping in the 1980's and discovered we really enjoyed being out in nature. Rosie retired in 2000. In 2003, we bought our first RV, a 26' travel trailer. I retired from full time employment in 2006. We pulled that trailer from Idaho to Georgia in 2006 and from Idaho to Alaska in 2008. In 2009, we sold the travel trailer and found a used 1997 Alpenlite 34' fifth wheel at a small dealership in Salt Lake City. It was set up for boondocking with 4 batteries, a gas generator and 100 gallon fresh water tank. With 2 slides it seemed very spacious compared to the travel trailer.

After many years of summer RV trips around the western US, we came back from a six week adventure last September and made the decision that we wanted to do this full time. So we set a goal for getting on the road by June of 2012.  We put our home up for sale in January 2012.  We moved into our camper on April 19th and checked in for a month at a local campground.  We closed on the sale of our home on May 1, 2012.

We have two furry companions, Sammy and Annie. They bring a lot of joy to our lives. We plan to limit our travels to the western USA going where ever the weather is warm at that time of year. We hope you will enjoy following us and reading about our travels.

Guys, I didn't know this was such a popular and accepted lifestyle. I have always been so intrigued with travel and trying to live in new places that I could seriously see me doing this someday. Since Paula and I moved our family here to Rigby we have also made the outdoors a much bigger part of our life. It is so therapeutic.

So glad I ran into you guys. I wish you well on your new adventure. I'm jealous. I'll check in occationally. Not stalking, really.

Found your blog while searching for info from full-time RVers as we hit the road this September. Actually we move into our fiver for good in May, but are hanging out here in Ohio until then so we can spend summer with family before we take off. Maybe we our paths will cross. I will be watching for your rig!

Just ran across your blog while researching traveling full time. My fiance and I would love to do what you do. Just a quick question though, what do you guys do for income?

Hi Katy,

We get Social Security and I am self employed with two businesses. One is a web site business and the other is performing Insurance Inspections on commercial businesses for the Insurance Industry. All combined we live on about $40K per year.

Hi Jim & Rosie- my husband and I are in our late 50's - we're both retired (he's a photographer, I'm an artist). We moved FT to Taos, NM a year ago. Now we're in the process of buying our first travel trailer. Love your road life and your blog. Best wishes to you both.
