Cabin Fever

Here it is, the last Friday in January.  It is 6 degrees at our house.  Snow predicted all next week.  Can spring be that far away?  It is all this die hard RV traveler can handle to hole up in hibernation mode until we can de-winterize the rig and go someplace.

I have been doing a lot of planning for our major RV trip in 2010.  About 7 weeks in time and 4,400 miles in distance.  We will spend about 12 days in Oregon, then head south into the No. Calif. redwoods.  Then through Arizona to Kanab, UT so Rosie can spend a couple of days at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.  From there to the old neighborhood in Colorado for a week; followed up by a trip to Yankton, SD (my home town) on the way to the family reunion in Winner, SD.  Will wander back home through Wyoming, Montana and Yellowstone Park.  We will spend our last night on the road at the Madison Arm campground in Yellowstone.

As soon as the weather warms up I will pull the camper out of storage and get it all shaped up for travel, including some new tires, wheel bearing pack, etc.  We are so looking forward to having soooo much more space in the 5th wheel after 6 years in our smaller travel trailer.

Our long range wish list includes a whole winter trip through the South and Southwest.   We are just not sure what to do about the house for 7 months while we are on the road.

January 2010 update

We are still snowbound by winter in Idaho. We cannot wait for the snow to melt and the temperatures to rise so we can try out the new camper. Our first trip will be local where we will stay in 3 public campgrounds for 2 nights each. That will let us break in the rig and get used to battery and generator use. YIPPEE.
