And Then There Was One

We no longer have neighbors.  The Airstream pulled out about ten o’clock this morning leaving us with about 6 empty sites on each side.  Temperature was about 40f at 6:00 am.  There was a large crew of WRP (Work Release Program) folks raking leaves in the campground this morning.  They appeared to be appropriately supervised.  I spoke with the front gate person about the 14 day limit vs. the monthly rate.  Here is the story; most of the campground has a 14 day limit, then you must leave for 14 days before you can come back for 14 days, etc.  However, the last row of about 12 sites in Loop C are available for a 30 day period for $500; then you must leave for 30 days before you can come back.  See how easy that is?

We drove to San Marcos, CA this afternoon to visit a former neighbor that we have not seen for over 35 years.  During those years we have exchanged birthday greetings and Christmas Cards.  We just took up where we left off in the mid-70’s.  Weird how that works.  Anyway, there was this remarkable bridge span over I-15 on the way to San Marcos; that is, I think it is remarkable:

On the way home, we stocked up a Wal-Mart in Temecula, filled up with diesel at $3.87 gallon and picked up El Pollo Loco for dinner.  EPL is a California based chain specializing in chicken cooked over an open flame and it is delicious.  If you have not tried it, you should.

I do not miss So. Cal. traffic.  I had forgotten how it was with 4-5 lanes on each side of a freeway filled with commuter traffic headed home after a day at the office, factory, etc.  It was dark when we left EPL and even though I have been to and from the campground several times during the day, it is a challenge to remember the route in the dark.  That is when I really appreciate Barbie, our GPS.
